About the MSC Program
The Mindful Self-Compassion Course (MSC) is an empirically-supported training program developed from the groundbreaking research by Dr. Kristin Neff and the clinical expertise of Dr. Christopher Germer.
The program is composed of eight 3 hour weekly classes and a half-day retreat. Each class consists of instructional talks, experiential exercises, guided meditations, and group discussion. There are also home practices offered each week.
About Self-Compassion
Growing research shows that practicing self-compassion has the following impacts:
● Improve overall health and wellbeing
● Handle difficult emotions with greater ease
● Help cope with life challenges
● Lower levels of anxiety and depression
● Reinforce healthy habits such as diet and exercise
● Enhance personal relationships
● Reduce stress and burnout
Self-compassion provides us with the inner strength and resilience to handle difficult situations when they arise. When we practice self-compassion we offer ourselves the same support that we would offer a dear friend who is struggling. Fortunately, self-compassion can be learned by anyone, even those of us who did not learn these skills as children.
By taking part in the Mindful Self-Compassion Program you can expect to:
● Understand the empirically-based, scientific underpinnings of self-compassion
● Learn proven ways to motivate yourself with kindness rather than self-criticism
● Practice self-compassion in daily life to manage life's challenges
● Grow and sustain your compassion for others and learn to include yourself in that circle of compassion
● Establish community built on the principles of diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging.
